About Me

I’m a senior at Hamilton College, where I’m pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Studies and Archaeology.
My Interests
I am dedicated to observing the cultural interactions that occurred between different groups through trade, settlement, and other forms of exchange, particularly through the lenses of trade and exchange, Greek and Roman colonization, and cultural interactions. I am particularly interested in how the flow of goods, ideas, and people influenced relationships between the Greek world, the Near East, and Egypt, shaping ancient societies in terms of religion, economy, and cultural identity.
I am also captivated by the rich narratives of identity and ethnicity in antiquity, with a particular focus on the experiences of underrepresented groups, including immigrants, women, and enslaved individuals and examining how these groups are portrayed and ‘othered’ in classical texts.
Additionally, I engage deeply with the ethical treatment of human remains and artifacts, particularly from burials, recognizing the profound significance these materials hold in understanding past societies. By emphasizing cultural heritage preservation, I advocate for respectful and responsible practices in both excavation and museum contexts, ensuring that the voices of the deceased are honored and their stories are told with integrity.
Goals
Looking ahead, my short-term goals are centered on pursuing a graduate program focused on classical archaeology, allowing me to delve deeper into the intricacies of ancient civilizations and their cultural interactions. I seek to enhance my research skills and gain a robust understanding I aim to further enhance my research skills and deepen my understanding of classical texts, artifacts, and their contexts, laying the groundwork for my future contributions to the field.
My long-term aspirations revolve around making a meaningful impact in classical archaeology through innovative research, engaging education, and passionate advocacy for cultural heritage preservation. I aspire to contribute to the field by advocating for a more inclusive representation of marginalized voices in archaeological research and museum exhibitions, promoting a holistic understanding of the ancient world that acknowledges its diverse perspectives.
Eventually, I aspire to transition into academia, where I aim to inspire and motivate students, particularly those from backgrounds similar to my own, creating an inclusive learning environment that encourages diverse perspectives and cultivates a passion for exploring the complexities of the ancient world.
